Trinity's roots began soon after a group of Lutheran
immigrants arrived from Germany in the late 1830s. These immigrants began
conducting religious services in various homes immediately upon arriving in this
area and plans for a church organization soon followed. The Trinity
congregation was founded in 1850 as Trinity Lutheran Church on a piece of land
donated by the Cramm family. A log church was constructed in 1850 and was
used until 1869 when the present church building was constructed.
Trinity's affiliation with the Lutheran denomination was discontinued in 1858.
In 1860, Trinity became affiliated with the Evangelical Church Society of the
West and became Trinity Evangelical Church.
In 1941, the Evangelical denomination merged with the
Reformed Church and the church became Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church.

The United Church of Christ was formed when the Evangelical
and Reformed Church merged with the Congregational Christian Church in 1956.
The church then became Trinity United Church of Christ.
Trinity
has been yoked with her sister congregation,
St. Peter United
Church of Christ in Lamar,
since St. Peter's founding in 1861. Along with St. Peter, Trinity has long
been engaged in God's work in local, national, and international ministries,
including Cincinnati, Honduras, Nicaragua, Niger, and Sri Lanka.
